One of the most popular attractions at Betti Strandling Park is the Slide and Glide playground, which is frequently used by residents with small children, schools, day care centers, summer camps and after school programs. A portion of the playground has been covered in poured rubber to provide a safer environment, funded by a Waste Tire Grant and matching funds from the city. Approximatley 1,000 square feet remain to be covered. |

Once finished, the playground should be safer - by reducing slips, softening falls and improving acccess for individulas who are disabled (as defined by ADA) - as well as easier to maintain and more aesthetically pleasing. The community will enjoy benifits such as improved access, safer surfaces and lower maintenance. |

Will provide wheelchair access to all equipment. Currently there is limited access to only portions of the playground by wheelchairs. It also povides a safer fall zone for users. Reduces maintenance cycle time and unit cost. |
