Lakes Regional Park is located in a fast growing part of Lee County. It covers approximately 275 acres with 150+ acres of man-made lakes (abandoned borrow pits). This project is designed to create upland peninsulas and littoral shelves within the borrow pits to create a meandering conveyance. |

The receiving waters (Hendry Creek and Estero Bay) are presently listed as impaired water on the EPA 303d list. This project is designed to improve water quality. It is a cooperative project between private development, local government, state and federal agencies to achieve improved water quality. |

The project is designed to restore +/- 5-7 acres of uplands, +/- 5-7 acres littoral wetlands, control/remove 20 acres of exotic vegetation. This portion of the project is 20 acres with the northern 20 acres having been completed by private development as part of their SFWMD Permit. The two projects combined will provide enhanced water quality treatment for the 2400 acre watershed. |
