Project Description:

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Purpose of program is to improve students' skills in reading and writing as well as other content areas through the integration of arts into the curriculum. Funds will be used to provide teachers with a higher level of professional development and assistance focusing on content and instruction; provide training and methods for using data-based information to determine students' needs; provide time to assist teachers and administrators in linking new and existing integrated curriculum units with FCAT Standards; provide for collaborative meetings among teachers, administrators, parents, museums, business partners, and community agencies to plan and increase student participation in community activities relating to integrated units; and assist with dissemination of refined units of instruction to teachers via online curriculum bank - books, videos, prints, and integrated units will be catalogued and listed on the site.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Services Provided/Benefit to State:

 

 

 

 

 

Improved students' skill in reading and writing; teachers trained in developing and teaching arts integrated content units; improved methods for assessing students' needs and learning styles; a bank of field-tested arts integrated curriculum units correlated with FCAT standards. Project is part of a national 5 year longitudinal study. Data are being collected on improved student performance in content areas as demonstrated by state and national tests and samples of students' work collected during a school year.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Measurable Outcome Anticipated:

 

 

 

 

 

Improved students' reading and writing skills as demonstrated on district and state tests and samples of students' work. Improved teacher knowledge of students' learning styles. Increased communication and reflection among teachers about student work.
