Project Description:

Development will eventually service three rural areas: North Central Florida, Panhandle, and South Central Florida.  A rural delivery service will be implemented in each area to provide caregivers and professionals with an education to improve the quality of care and to enhance the ability of families to continue to care for themselves.  Funds will be to purchase a motor home that will be custom designed to meet ADA standards.  This project is three phased: the first (this year's request) is for the South Central area.  Funding for next year and the following will be to implement the next two sites listed above.

Services Provided/Benefit to State:

This vehicle will be used in the South Central Florida area to begin a delivery service to provide caregivers and professionals with education to improve the quality of care and to enhance the ability of families to continue to care for themselves.  Thereby, reducing dependence on the state.

Measurable Outcome Anticipated:

Approximately 400,000 Floridians have Alzheimer's Disease.  Urban areas of the state have programs, services and organizations established to assist families.  Unfortunately, rural areas have very little resources available to assist family members when caring for a person inflicted with this disease.  This program will enable families to have easy access to these resources.  Project will be self-sustaining, effective the first year.
