During last year's legislative session $1,500,000 was authorized to purchase land for the consolidation of the IFAS facility in West Orange County. It has been determined that an additional $1,700,000 will be needed to complete the land purchase. |

The appropriation of the additional funds in this request would allow the University of Florida (IFAS) to purchase the available land adjacent to the existing site of the consolidated research facility which is now complete and ready for occupancy. The University will be using this land to do rotational studies of various agricultural components in the growing of material. Purchase of property would allow these testing procedures to take place close to the research station reducing the cost of transportation - both in samples as well as growing operations. |
