|
Upgrade to State specifications 27 hurricane shelters in Highlands County. Highlands County is a host county for the surrounding coastal counties and is expected to provide for up to 500,000 evacuees in the event of a natural disaster. Due to their large population of mobile home units, adequate shelter space and equipment must be reserved leaving inadequate shelter space for coastal evacuees. Existing facilities will not accomodate even the minimum amount of coastal evacuees. |
