Services Provided/Benefit to State: |
This project reduces economic loss from disasters by identifying and overseeing implementation of energy efficient hazard mitigation measures that lower on-going operating costs through reduced energy consumption as well as disaster recovery costs. By targeting small businesses located in communities that are economically most vulnerable to disaster loss, this program will reduce the destruction of commercial property, disruption of business operations and the loss of jobs. Certified energy/facility auditors will be strategically located at Small Business Development Centers throughout the state to conduct facility surveys, make unbiased upgrade/retrofit recommendations that reduce hazard potential and energy consumption, provide loan preparation assistance to qualified businesses to finance implementation through the existing Florida Energy Loan Program or other providers, and oversee the installation process to ensure that loan funds are efficiently and effectively used. |
