||
The CLASS Program is an alternative to suspension with four middle schools participating. Housed in the Daytona Beach Police Athletic League Community Outreach Center and operated in conjunction with Act Corporation (a Volusia County mental health organization) and area law enforement agencies, CLASS is designed to expand a student's self esteem, increase interpersonal communications skills, and teach effective behavior skills. |

Services Provided/Benefit to State: |

||||
The CLASS Program will provide educational services and academic assistance to the suspended student in a structured, supervised setting away from the assigned school. Individual, group, and family counseling will provide weekly instruction in drug education. Additionally, a social worker will provide supplemental support services. The prevention/intervention services provided to students will increase academic and behavioral performance and thus benefit the stat in future expenditure in the are of corrections and welfare. |

To reduce the number of out of school suspension days at identified schools. To improve the academic performance of CLASS students. To actively involve more parents/guardians with identified schools in promoting students' success and achievement. To involve al communty agencies in working collaboratively to reduce secondary students' involvement with the juvenile justice system. |
