To help supply the regional demand for reclaimed water, and reduce nutrient loading to the Caloosahatchee River at Billy Creek, which is listed in the Florida Department of Environmental Protection 303(d) list. The City's reclaimed water system will be expanded in two ways: 1) Production of more reclaimed water, and 2) increased distribution and storage capacity. |

The project will produce reclaimed water and reduce nutrient loadings to the Caloosahatchee River at Billy Creek. This reuse project is also an environmentally sound method of reducing new water needs is to develop reclaimed water systems. Public demand in Lee County if projected to increase by more than 30 mgd (a 75% increase) over the next 20 years. |
