Project Description:
The Community-and Faith-Based Initiative will promote community development through partnerships with community-based organizations and organizations connected to the faith community.
Services Provided/Benefit to State:
The purpose of this initiative is to provide partnerships with community and faith-based organizations to promote community development in low-income communities.
Measurable Outcome Anticipated:
(a)Professional skill development-creation and operation of training programs to enhance the professional skills of individuals working within community and faith-based organizations (b)Development of future leaders-internship programs will be established for graduate students within community and faith-based organizations and stipends will be awarded in form of assistantships (c)Promotion of a "Best Practices" Annual Conference for community and faith-based organizations to discuss and share information on issues relating to the creation, operation, and sustainability of community and faith-based organizations (d)Establishment of research opportunities on economic, operational, and policy issues that relate to community development.
