Project Description:

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The FSF program focuses on reducing the stress identified as prevalent in "at risk" families so that the indidences of child abuse and neglect can in turn be reduced.  All educational and theraputic components of the program including parenting skills education, child abuse prevention education and training, individual and family therapy, support groups, after school tutoring program, summer camp, vocational training (computer education), and education training (GED and ESOL) aim towards this goal.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Services Provided/Benefit to State:

 

 

 

 

 

Family Education and Support Services to 2100 clients

Child Abuse Preventions Education and training to 60,000 students/Teachers/parents

School Supplies Distribution to 1,000 students

The Family School and Friends Program focuses on empowering families through education and family support services.  The program aims to reduce the high rates of family violence and delinquent behaviors that are present in our communities.  This in turn, benefits the State with healthier families and children who will be less likely to eed the services of the Department of Children and Families the Department of Juvinile Justice, and other government agencies.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Measurable Outcome Anticipated:

 

 

 

 

 

The FSF program's expected outcomes include:

- increased parental involvment in school related activities

- increased educational skills of parents and shildren

- increased attendance level of students identified by school personnel

-increased awareness of the relationship between education and future success

- increased reliance/trust on avaliable community resources

- increased child abuse prevention knowlegde for children, parents, and teachers

- increased awareness of avaliable commnunity edcuational, vocational and employment resources

- increased parent's ability to protect and nurture thier chidren and successfully resolve conflicts
