Project Description:

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The Terminal Access roadway is a three level interchange east of the FEC railroad that provides and egress for the airport. The interchange is mainly on FDOT right of way. The new interchange will require southbound traffic from I-595 and US 1, which represnets 80 percent of all incoming airport traffic to make a 270 degree loop. This is typical at all cloverleaf intersections of major highways. Thye loop will replace the existing entrance bridges by merging the southbound and northbound traffic on a single alignment of consecutive at-grade roadways and new overpasses leading into the airport, the effect on flow will be a natural slowing of traffic, which is necessary to reduce vehicular speed and allow for adequete decision time as traffic approaches the terminal complex.
