Project Description:
Project SYSTEM integrates the three-quarter century combines organizational experience of South Florida's three largest non-profet education services organization:SER-IBM Business Institute, Youth Co-Op, and SABER. This combination provides a full SYSTEM of services to at-risk and out-of-school youth. These organizations have previously operated a similar program sponsored, in part. by the Florida Department of Education and have exceeded all program goals and measures established by Department of Education.
Services Provided/Benefit to State:
Education, training, counseling and employment for at-risk and out-of-school youth. State funds will be matched on a one-to-one basis by sources which include JTPA, the local school district, and the private sector.THe tree organizations sponsoring Project SYSTEM have documented success in reducing dropouts, preventing delinquincy, and increasing the number of former students who are recovered. The State's investment in Project SYTEM will save an average of $7,887 per dropout.
Measurable Outcome Anticipated:
Enroll at least 900 youth in dropout prevention activities, retain at least 90% of the youth enrolled in dropout prevention activities, enroll at least 80 youth in dropout recovery activities and training; retain at least 70% of the youth enrolled in dropout recovery activites and training; place at least 70% of the youth completing dropout recovery in unsubsidized employment.
