Project Description: |
The project area for the Indian Waters Wastewater Collection System lies within the City's service area as established by the interlocal agreement with Citrus County. An evaluation of the proposed Special Sewer Assessment District was conducted by Reynolds, Smith, and Hills, Inc. during 1998 (see Section 3). This report, excerpts of which are included herein, delineates the service areas and outlines the design/construction concepts for the execution of the project. The project will ultimately service approximately 215 single family residence sites, a condominium project (currently serviced by a privately owned package plant) and several commercial sites. Most of the single family homes in the project area are currently connected to individual septic systems, any of which are 15+ years old and are constructed below FEMA floodplain elevations. |

Measurable Outcome Anticipated: |
Septic systems will be eliminated by the proposed central system thus reducing probability for contamination of the Crystal River Outstanding Florida Waterway system during storm events. An additional benefit of the proposed system will be a reduction in the amount of nutrients and other pollutants currently entering the Indian River via the existing individual septic systems. |
