Take Stock in Children improves the lives of Florida's financially impoverished children by helping to improve their academic achievement and attainment. Take Stock enters into an agreement with participants that if they avoid drugs and crime and meet certain behavioral and academic requirements, they each will receive a scholarship for postsecondary education. Take Stock engages the private sector, the public sector, community members, and parents in the pursuit of educational success for children. To improve the students' chances of success, Take Stock provides each student with a mentor and a student advocate. More children will grow up to become productive citizens, contributing to the state economically and socially. |

Measurable Outcome Anticipated: |
It is anticipated that Take Stock participants will have a lower dropout rate, higher graduation rate, lower rate of crime, lower rate of drug use, and higher educational attainment. Anecdotal evidence suggests Take Stock may encourage students' parents to further their educations as well. |
