The Broward Boulevard corridor is in one of the higher crime areas in Broward County. Several programs have been put together to raise the standard of living and quality of life in the area. This project is under a CPTED (Crime Prevention through Environmental Design Demonstration)design concept that expands upon the assumption that the proper design and effective use of the built environment can lead to a reduction in the fear of crime, a reduction in the incidence of crime, and a improvement in the quality of life. |

This project helps beautify a State Road and will help lower the crime rate in the area. Crime is listed in public surveys as the number one issue as it relates to the quality of life. Projects such as this can lower crime. |

20% Decrease in Part One Crimes - which are those considered to be the most vicious such as murder, rape, robbery, burglary, larceny - plus drugs and prostitution will be measured before, during and after construction as well as the preception of crime. |
