Project Description:
Replace 16 dental chairs and units, add digital radiography equipment, computerized dental practice management system including 4 computer terminals, dental practice management software, and intra-oral camera.
Services Provided/Benefit to State:
To provide dental care for indigent patients, migrant workers and their children, and provide a training clinic for dental hygiene, dental assisting, and dental practice management students with up to date clinical practice equipment. The training will prepare students to treat patients in this clinic and in the following facilities: Leon County Public Health Department, Gadsden County Medical Center, Jefferson County Correctional Institute, Apalachee Correctional Institute, and Wakulla Correctional Institute. Additional patients to be treated include: Leon County Neighborhood Health Services, Leon County Head Start, Gadsden County Head Start, Big Bend HIV+ Patient Program, Senior Citizens Center, and the Tallahassee Developmental Center.
Measurable Outcome Anticipated:
Reliable, functional, current clinical practice equipment to replace twenty-five year old dental chairs and units that cannot be repaired. Addition of current radiography equipment and a computerized dental practice management system to provide adequate care for patients, and up to date training for students.
