This project is part of a public/private strategic investment to improve the capabilities of the existing IFAS Strawberry Research Center. |

Services Provided/Benefit to State: |

Florida strawberry research develops varieties well adapted to local conditions. It develops best management practices to maximize production while minimize the impact upon resoruces and the environment. the socio-economic benefits of Florida based strawberry research are legend, in terms of income generated, jobs developed, and community infused prosperity. |

Measurable Outcome Anticipated: |

||||
According to independent research, an acre of strawberries has an impact of $4.8 million over 50 years. For every 208 acres of increased acreage, the citizens of Florida can anticipate a $1 billion positive impact. Due largely to precious Florida research, strawberry acreage has increased almost 1000 acres in the last decade. The annual value to the state has almost doubled. |
