Controlling mosquitoes throughout Miami-Dade County reduces annoyance and the incidence of mosquito transmitted diseases throughout the State of Florida, benefiting all citizens and increasing tourism to the State. A modern jet helicopter can rapidly spray large tracts of land quickly and effectively, controlling mosquitoes that transmit diseases such as St. Louis Encephalitis and Dengue Fever. The west Nile Virus could dramatically impact tourism should an epidemic occur in South Florida, similar to the one that occurred in New York State in 1999.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Measurable Outcome Anticipated:

 

 

 

 

 

Mosquito transmitted diseases are unpredictable, and can occur at any time with varying degrees of severity. However, an epidemic of St. Louis Encephalitis occurred in 1990 in Florida, with 223 cases in 28 counties, significantly reducing tourism.
