Project Description:

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Complete construction of community center/fire department facilit in rural north Okaloosa County.  The project was partially funded twice before in the amounts of $159,000 (FY 1997-1998) and $91,000 (FY 1998-1999). Construction is approximately three-fourth complete.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Services Provided/Benefit to State:

 

 

 

 

 

The facility will serve a a fire department and community center for a community of about 800 farming/rural families.  it will be used as a fire station and a meeting hall for such events as educational classes, club meetings (4-H, Future Farmers of America, Senior Citizens), weddings, reunions and exhibits.  It will also be used as a voting precinct, an emergency operation shelter, a farmers' market and is so requested, a law enforcement sub-station.  It will be a community focal point.

Better fire service and improved ISO ratings.  More involvement in community activities and increased volunteerism.
