Project Description:
A multipurpose meeting room which will accommodate 150-200 persons with public restrooms and additional storage space.
Services Provided/Benefit to State:
The Facility would provide a central location to accommodate large audiences for educational meetings held on a regional basis. Travel time would be reduced for state specialists, county and district extension agents and residents of surrounding counties. The use of facilities already available at this location would be optimized, including satellite downlink, video production (studio and staff), copying and duplicating equipment, and support staff. There would be resource savings since these services would no longer need to be transported off site for seminars and workshops.
Measurable Outcome Anticipated:
There would be an increased capacity to accomodate more meetings and larger groups and occasions at a centralized location for the region. The mulitpurpose meeting room would be utilized by Extension Agents at the Hillsborough County Office along with UF/IFAS State Specialists to conduct County District and Statewide educational programs. Hillsborough County Cooperative Extension works with more than 525 different organizations many of whom would also utlize meeting rooms at the facility. Among those using existing space are Hillsborough County Bee Keepers, Citrus Advisory, Strawberry Growers, Florida Nursery Growers Assoc., Florida Department of Agriculture, USDA, Farm Bureau, Family and Community Educators, Tampa Bay Home Builders Assoc., Tampa Bay Wholesale Growers, Hillsborough Head Start, Hunger Coalition, Project Greenhouse, Hillsborough County Fair, Nutrition Education Training, Pesticide Applicators, Dairy Advisory, Tree and Landscape Advisory Commission, and many more.
