Services Provided/Benefit to State:

Flagler County is Florida's second fastest growing county, with a population of 45,000 citizens.  From 1990-2001, population is estimated to have grown by 67.3%.  The rate of growth for those aged 65 years and over and those aged 75 years and over is 97% and 230% respectively.

This project will benefit all citizens of Flagler County.  Due to the location of the hospital, it will provide easy access to all citizens of Flagler County and its location near Interstate 95 will benefit instate and out of state travelers.  According to the latest study, traffic volume past the new hospital equates to 84,000 daily trips along I-95.  The new Hospital is strategically located to address not only the health care needs of Flagler County, but to communities to north and south bound Florida travelers.

Additionally, the Florida County economy will be positively impacted by this project.  It is expected that 82.7 full time jobs will be created by the construction of the new hostpital, which will increase employment base of the hospital to 276.3 full time equivalents.  Memorial Hospital-Flagler is currently the 7th largest employer in the County.  New position will be in the areas of nursing, ancillary, professional and support staff.

Measurable Outcome Anticipated:

This project will provide greater access to health care for Flagler County Residents.  The 81 bed facility, comprehensive cancer center and outpatient care center will be state of the art and conducive to the well being of patients, their families and the employees of the Hospital.  An outgoing performace improvement and quality of care program will measure the efficiency of efficacy of services provided.
