Renovate existing Lake Shore Middle School in Belle Glade (School Board to donate 16 acre site and existing facility) providing site for EDGE Development-Job incubator program S.B.A., Work Force Development, Inc.-Skills training, School Board-G.E.D., Community College-Vocational Training, YWCA-Early Learning Center (Head Start), Palm Beach County Library System-Adult Literacy, and Palm Beach County Sheriff-Police Athletic League. |

The Glades area consists of approximately 30,000 citizens in an "urban" rural setting, residing within (4) incorporated municipalities: Belle Glade; Pahokee; South Bay, and Canal Pointe. These areas suffer from severe economic depression fueled by a lack of employment opportunities, as a result of inadequate job training and extremely high illiteracy rates. The population base is made up of largely a minorities whose youth are considered to be "at-risk". |
