Project Description:
Construct, furnish and operate a permanet 15,000 square foot library building for the Suntree/Viera Public Library on Donated Land.
Services Provided/Benefit to State:
At present, the residents of the Suntree Library are served out of a rented facility. The present facility is 9,000 square feet. The new facility is planned at 15,000 square feet and will more adequately serve the needs of the community residents. Currently, there is not adequate parking parking because the library is located in a strip mall used for other purposes and ample parking is addressed at the proposed facility. The new library will be located less than one mile from Wickham Road, a major arterial roadway in the area. It will be next to a large public elementary school to better serve the students, teachers and parents of the area. New areas in the proposed facility which we currently do not have available are a Young Adult room, a lobby with display areas, private study rooms, typing rooms, a book return that empties into the library. A larger facility will allow a larger collection of books and other materials available to serve the public. This is a raqidly growing community and the percentage of the collection circulating at one time is 42.33%.
Measurable Outcome Anticipated:
An anticipated increase of the monthly circulatin of materials of at least 1,000 per month for the first year of operation. An anticipated increase in patron attendance figure of at least 1,000 people per month. An anticipated increase of 500 more reference questions per month after opening the new facility.
