Project Description: |
Polk County is predicted to contain 100,000 Onsite Sewage Treatment & Disposal Systems by 2005. Long-term system management (including necessary maintenance and proper operation) is essential to ensure these systems produce the highest levels of wastewater treatment and do not cause water quality problems. Homeowners education as to the role they play in maintaining water quality in Polk County will be accomplished at a hand-on-training center under construction. The center will demonstrate proper system operation and maintenance, and place onsite systems in the context of other sources on non-point water pollution. |
