Project Description:
Mote Marine Laboratory is a nonprofit, independent marine and environmental science research organization with more than 20 years experience in research and education on manatees. In close cooperation with the FWCC, Mote will be conducting manatee research as outlined in the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service's FL Manatee Recovery Plan(calibration of aerial survey counts at warm water refugia, behavioral responses to boats, boating management evaluations, factors affecting manatee hearing, assist FWCC with manatee rescue, environmental stressor effects on manatee immune system, manatee habitat use, factors affecting capture and release of manatees.
