Project Description:
Mote Marine Laboratory and Aquarium has been designated as a Cultural Sponsoring Oraganization and has qualified for Florida's Division of Cultural Affairs funding. In 1998, Mote was successful in the competitive Cultural Institutions Program. The 3-year grant award depends on the appropriated fundinding level for each of the three years. This funding supports the general needs of the institution to support the dissemination of information concerning Florida's marine environment through Mote Marine Aquarium and Education programs. Due to the nature of its geography, Florida's intellectual and artistic cultures are inextricably intertwined with the sea. We encourage full funding the the Division's appropriation request, therefore ensuring that Mote as well as other approved institutions receive their full allocated share.
Services Provided/Benefit to State:
The Cultural Institution Program will advance Mote's achievement of the goals of its strategic plan and move Mote toward fulfillment of its mission to sustain its place as an enduring source of informal education concerning the marine environment.
