Project Description:

Grant funding is requested for the Seminole County Sheriff's Office to assume the Protective Investigation Services currently state funded and performed by the Department of Children and Families in Seminole County.  The Seminole County Sheriff's Office will accept all duties and assume all responsibilities related to the protecctive investigative function in Seminole County, operating the program consistent with current Sheriff's Office grantees that are performing this function throughout the state.

Services Provided/Benefit to State:

In support of achieving the goals and objectives of section 409.1671 and section 39.3065, where these services have already been transferred to four (4) local Sheriff's Offices in the state.  The services will be provided to investigate the growing numbers of local cases.  Utilizing the investigative experience of law enforcement, technology infrastructure, and database connectivity, we anticipate better delivery of services and increased progression of cases through the system relating to protection of children in the jurisdiction of Seminole County.

Measurable Outcome Anticipated:

Pursuant to subsection 20.19(19), Florida Statutes, the grantee will be responsible for the following outcomes regarding child protective investigations within the county.  The grantor will provide the data for these outcomes, based on input supplied by the grantee into the FAHIS system.  1) 100% of child protective investigations will commence in accordance with the time frames determined by the Florida Abuse Hotline, 2) 100% of cases with no findings of maltreatment will be closed within thirty (30) days, 3) 100% of cases with findings of maltreatment are classified within thirty (30)days.
