Project Description:

To construct and illuminate three tennis courts, a tennis warm-up/practice area and two racquetball courts, bathroom facilities and perimeter fencing.  This project is consistent with our long range plan for our municipal/activity center.  We have not received funds from the state for any facets of our long range master plan for the community rereation complex.

Services Provided/Benefit to State:

The specific benefits that will be realized are broad brush strokes of community/population access.  The economy of scale for the dollars spent are well worth the effort.  We believe that we have worked closely with our architects and design engineers to obtain optimum utilization of the City owned land.  Community support for the project is eficenced by the fact taht the Volusia/Flagler Boys & Girls Club and the City have created a public/private partnership agreement for the Teen Center and our "other" recreational facilities.  The utilization of the gymnasium/activity center, the municipal pool and the tennis/raquetball courts will also be beneficial to the Boys & Girls Club.  We will also consider establishing wellness programs with the Area Agency Council on Again with will hopefully lower Medicare service and funding demands on the state and federal government.  We will expand our community related partnerships, which will enable us to offer recreational and wellness programs that will be much broader in scope, meeting the needs of our residents.  Tiered levels of activities will attract participation for literally all of our residents from pre-school to seniors.

Measurable Outcome Anticipated:

Our performance record is sterling and is represented by successful projects where we have met and in some instances exceeded our stated goals and objectives.  Performance standards will be achieved by reaching our target population-youth from single parents and families whose income is at or below poverty level.  We strive to provide ongoing recreation and organized sports activities, which will provide a meaningful, positive environment and alternatives for youth and prevent their involvement in criminal activity and drug use.
