Project Description:

The primary focus of this project is to upgrade an existing boat launching facility and provide better access to public waters.  The ramp was constructed many years ao and is in very poor shape Land resources are scarce, so priority was given to the only launching facility within the city limits.  Other elements included in this project include playground equipment, picnic facilities, parking, beach access walkover, benches, security lighting, and a community events sign.  The intent was to provide a multi-purpose facility because it will provide a greater range of opportunities.  Tourism is vital to the economy of the community and the State of Florida.  This park is the "centerpiece" for the Labor Day Scallop Festival and other local events.

Services Provided/Benefit to State:

(This project is in the Governor's designated Area of Economic Critical Concern) This park contains the only boat launch facility in the city limits and is frequented by thousands of visitors per year.  This funding will replace the existing boat ramp and fishing pier, replace the picnic facilities grills, provide for playground equipment, an exercise trail, and a beach access walkover.

Measurable Outcome Anticipated:

Provide a new fishing pier and boat launch for thousands of visitors to the area as well as to the community, provide recreational facilities in a safe lighted environment.
