Project Description:
Construction of a Florida memorial for the veterans of World War II. Request is for seed money for planning, design and to provide incentive for private matching grants. Cost are estimated
Services Provided/Benefit to State:
Funding will begin to implement SB 714 that passed during the 1999 Legislative Session. Approximately 600,000 WW II veterans live in the State of Florida. As a nation, we are losing WW II Veterans at the rate of 1,000 each day. While it has been 54 years since the end of WWII, these veterans still have not been honored by a national or state war memorial.
Measurable Outcome Anticipated:
As those associated with previously funded Vietman War Memorial and Korean War Memorial to honor those who gave so much so that we all can prosper and have freedom needs no future measure.
