||
The Sarasota Juvenile Assessment Center provides youth arrested in Sarasota County with comprehensive assessment and referral for their service and treatment needs. Additionally, the JAC provides a coordination of service to the judicial, diversion, intervention, treatment, and service programs in the county. |

The comprehensive assessment process includes DJJ screeningand intake, JAC screening, bio-psychosocial assessment, laboratory urinalysis, case management services, and data managemet. Treatment and service agencies in the community in providing improved and more easily accessed treatment to youth in need of services. Reduces truancy and in-school/out of school suspensions, and collects data which reflects how well the system is doing in reducing juvenile crime in this county. Law enforcement time processing juveniles has bee substantially reduce by accessing the JAC. Juveniles are referred and access appropriate community services, reducing the risk of re-arrest and subsequent long term commitment in DJJ facilities or the state prison system. |

||||
Teenage youth will be provided with access to appropriate community services to reduce the likelihood of re-entry into the DJJand/or state penal system. Further, there is a reduction in suspensions and turancy through coordination between the JAC and the school system. Data collected provides the state and county with an accurate measurement of juvenile crime and deviant behavior in this county so furture resources are appropriately allocated. |
