Project Description:
To restore Courtroom E to its original 1913 state melding the functional needs of today with the dignified form of the past.
Services Provided/Benefit to State:
Preservation of historic site. In 1998, this courthouse was placed on the National Register of Historic Places and is now listed among a select number of significant American historical sites. Maintenance of traditions, symbols and forms associated with the courts.
Measurable Outcome Anticipated:
Demolition, jury box, concrete ramp, stairs, balcony, floor construction, doors, ceiling, moldings, bench seating, ceiling fans, grills, electrical system, lighting, window treatments, sound system. Return of ceiling to 25' height, reclaimation of balcony seating and sloped floor. Restoration of decorative form. Upgrading to ADA requirements -- wheelchair users' access.
