Project Description:
Construction of 5,600 Square Feet Multipurpose Facility for the City of Apalachicola's Recreation & Education programs. The facility will consist of a general assembly hall, a food service area, administrative office space and common meeting areas. It will replace a much older and smaller space that is currently housing city programs.
Services Provided/Benefit to State:
The building will house youth programs, including drug awareness and early parenthood classes. It will be available for public use, including after school and summer youth programs. The general assembly hall will handle 250 persons and will provide a community gathering area for public meetings, choral and stage productions. The building will be fully handicapped accessible and will provide much needed space for senior programs.
Measurable Outcome Anticipated:
By replaciing older and smaller building with new facility, will expand recreation and education programs in this rural environment and allow for more accessible public gatherings. As a note, the courthouse is accessible, but difficult to get into and out of a physically challenged person. Most town meetings, etc. are currently held at the courthouse or in various smaller venues around town.
