Project Description:

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Palatlakaha Environmental and Agricultural Reserve (P.E.A.R.) Development and Management Proviso Language Only (Rep. Kelly has a draft plan booklet available) Question 1. No money is being requested, I used the amount of $1.00 so this form would process. Question 4. Lake County Board of County Commissioners has by Resolution committed to maintain and operate, cost amounts are unknown at present, but estimated amount is $529,424 :  Proviso Language for PEAR Project is as follows:

Upon completion of the purchase of additional real property for the Central Florida Research and Education Center (CFREC) at Apopka and designation of the Leesburg land surplus, the Board of Regents shall execute a release of lease for land at Leesburg currently being used by the CFREC. The Board of Trustees of the Internal Improvement Trust Fund shall transfer ownship of the Leesburg land to the Board of County Commissioners of Lake County, Florida for the purpose of establishing the Palatlakaha Environmental and Agricultural Reserve.  The county shall assume responsibility for all operations, improvements and maintenance required at the site.  Included in the transfer agreement shall be a stipulation that the land, and any improvements thereto, shall revert to the State of Florida if the county decides it no longer will use the land for an Environmental and Agricultural Reserve. 

 

Prior to the transfer of ownership, the county commission must adopt a management plan and budget for the development  of the Reserve.  Should the county commission not adopt a plan and budget for the Reserve by June 30, 2002, the land will remain with the state.

Regional Park, Trails, Community Gardens, Protection of Palatlakaha River Corridor, Prevent degradation of downstream Harris Chain of Lakes, Water Recharge, Wildlife Habitat.
