Project Description:
Renovation of Hamilton County Courthouse. Current courthouse was renovated/constructed in 1954-55. Since that time the expansion of services and the need for additional security measures have greatly increased. The current facility needs much attention in the area of security improvements as noted on the recent third circuit survey taken in 1999. Some of the problems include the need to transport prisoners from the jail to the courthouse, no rooms for attorneys/professional staff to visit with clients, and a courtroom that would be very difficult to secure or isolate from the constitutional offices serving the general public.
Services Provided/Benefit to State:
The County Courthouse serves as the central hub for practically all governmental functions in this rural area. These renovations to the facility would result in a much safer public environment for all citizens.
Measurable Outcome Anticipated:
The performance standards and measures associated with this project are centered on renovation/construction of the county courthouse/annex. This project would greatly enhance the security of the courthouse and the general public safety of all citizens. This would also allow for an additional courtroom facility, which could be utilitzed as needed.
