The current facility was built in 1965 for use by 14 members of the Florida Highway Patrol. The Florida Highway Patrol in Marion County currently has 38 members assigned to the same facility. The building is in need of numerous repairs and is cost-prohibitive to modernize this current facility to meet the demands of the members and citizens. The Marion County Commission has agreed to provide 5 acres (appraised value $90,695.11) of land in exchange for the building. The building will be used for the Veteran's Administration Memorial Park that is located contiguous to our current property. The new facility will be located in the Marion County Governmental Complex on SE 25th Avenue, which will make government accessibility more convenient to the citizens of Marion County. |
