Project Description:
ARC Marion, Inc. is the premier provider of services for individuals with developmental disabilities in Marion County. Operating since 1959, ARC Marion's current buildings are in serious disrepair. Patchwork upkeep is so expensive and time-consuming that it is no longer defensible. With additional customers being served, our facilities are filled to capacity. ARC Marion must turn away people who are in desperate need of services. The ARC Marion Building Project involves the construction of two new buildings at the main campus located at 2800 S.E. Maricamp Road, Ocala. ARC Marion owns more than 16 acres of land where the construction will take place. One building will be used primarily for adult day training, serving persons with multiple disabilities, physical challenges, as well as persons with mental retardation and other developmental disabilities. The second building will be used for offices, staff training, counseling, and meetings with customers, families, and support coordinators.
Services Provided/Benefit to State:
ARC Marion provides a wide range of services for individuals with developmental disabilities and their families. Services include the following: Early Intervention Residential Habilitation Supported Employment Supported Living Adult Day Training Non-Residential Support Services Companionship Services Respite Care
Measurable Outcome Anticipated:
With existing facilities, ARC Marion has been able to serve approximately 250 persons. Completion of proposed building project will enable ARC Marion to serve an additional 100 people. Current waiting list information and projected population growth in Marion County suggests an even greater demand for future services. According to the Florida Development Disabilities Council estimates and the North Central Florida Health Planning Council, Marion County's population of developmentally disabled is about 2,581.
