Project Description:
To recruit, train, seat, and implement panels of trained citizen volunteers to conduct judicial hearings of children under court supervision due to abuse and/or neglect; thereby propelling the children through the dependency system and into safe, permanent placements.
Services Provided/Benefit to State:
SERVICES PROVIDED: Trained citizen volunteers will conduct judicial review hearings of children under court supervision due to abuse and/or neglect, as outlined in 39.702 F.S. BENEFIT TO STATE: *Decreases need for additional judgeships & support staff *Generates Federal IV-E funding for State *Independent monitor of case management and progress *Provides pertinent statistical information *Engages community in dependency court process *Increases community awareness & collaboration
Measurable Outcome Anticipated:
*Citizen Review Panels will conduct reviews thereby decreasing the need for additional judiciary & support staff *Collaborate with state agencies to draw down Federal dollars *Collect & report data & trends to key decision makers *Conduct hearings in mandated timelines *Ensure provision of services & case progress *Form a statewide association of Citizen Review Programs
