To reduce flooding problems caused by large volumes of stormwater runoff which adversely impacts the vegetation and aquatic life. In addition, this would improve the surface water quality and enable the City of Cape Coral to continue the use of their alternative water supply. |

This project meets the criteria of the Water Advisory Board for surface water restoration projects. The project would increase the storage capacity of the current canal system and increase the supply of water for the dual stormwate/reuse irrigation system. This project will continue to improve the conveyance of water from the upper reaches of this watershed. |

|
This project will improve marine aquatic life in the Matlacha Pass Preserve by capturing the excessive flow in the Gator system. The project will solve the flooding problems within Cecil Webb/Babcock Wildlife Management Area and improve conveyance of present capacity. |
