Project Description:
Designated trauma centers are required to meet numerous standards and to provide the necessary resources to deliver comprehensive trauma services. LMHS emergency room is designated as a trauma center. The LMHS trauma center is a valuable community assest that is under great economic pressure. It is under-funded by nearly $2 million. This past year, LMHS utilized the state's non-recurring $100,000 funding to offset certain capital expenditures and to assist in expanding community trauma prevention education, a requirement of the designation. This funding can also be used to supplement continuing education expenses for maintaining clinical certifications and required continuing education hours.
