Project Description:

The memorial will be designed to acknowledge Sanford's Naval Aviaition heritage between the years of 1942 and 1968 and will honor all who served their country.

It will be located on approximately two acres of land at the main entrance to the Orlando Sanford Airport.

The centerpiece of the memorial will be a United States Navy RA-5C Vigilante aircraft mounted as an in-flight display.

The memorial will include a walkway composed of bricks engraved with the names of servicemen stationed at Naval Air Station Sanford.

The overall design will include appropriate landscaping, benches, flags and plaques all suitable for a park-type memorial.  The design allows adequate parking, night lighting, and a picnic area for community gatherings, school field trips and airport visitors.

The memorial will include a display inside the airport's new passenger terminal, which will include uniforms, artifacts and memorabilia commemorating our community's role in Naval Aviation history.
