Project Description:
Fifty-six hundred square foot multi-purpose facility for the city's recreational and educational programs.
Measurable Outcome Anticipated:
The proposed facility is needed to support the efforts of the City of Apalachicola in developing a growth oriented recreation and education program for its citizens of all ages. Specific needs and resulting benefits from development of this facility include: 1. To provide an assembly space for approximately 250 people with increased accessiblity by senior and handicapped citizens, thereby reducing present costs of transportation to other facilities within the county. 2. Replacement of older and much smaller recreation center which, with very limited capacity, precludes its use for many indoor activities. 3. A location for conducting City sponsored youth programs, including drug awareness and early parenthood programs, both after school and summer sessions. 4. A facility available to the general public and civic groups, providing a climite controlled environment suitable for a variety of activities, including musical and theatrical productions.
