Project Description:
This project involves roadway widening (from two-lanes to four-lanes) for the purposes of upgrading the main overland route used in transporting cargo/freight to and from the Port of Palm Beach. The project economic benefits are equally significant. Passage of the Carribean Initiative will open the door for substantial growth in two-way trade between the Port and the nations of the Caribbean basin. As a result, the Port is poised to realize significant cargo tonnage increases over the next ten years. Accordingly, local roadway improvements are necessary to assure that physical structure keeps pace with current and future demand. Since highway connectors to the Port are presently near capacity, this roadway widening/improvement project is essential.
