The six statutory teaching hospitals (Jackson Memorial, Mount Sinai Medical Center, Orlando Regional, Shands-Gainesville, Shands-Jax, and Tampa General) in partnership with the Univeristy of Florida, University of South Florida and University of Miami Colleges of Medicine provide the graduate medical education and training of over 1700 medical residents participating in over 85 residency programs. At the same time, the jiont mission achieves the education and training of Florida's required ehatlh care manpower. |

||||
One of the principal program goals is to maintain the high percentage of graduates who remain in the state to practice medicien. In addition, while training and educating future practitioners, a great deal of indigent care is provided.
