Project Description:

This project, which was submitted for recommendation by the TOPS Committee, is the single most critical step that Palm Coast and Flagler County can take to improve evacuation times.  This project will connect Old Kings Road, on the east side of I-95 in Palm Coast, with Matanzas Parkway, on the west side of I-95.  The overpass, which will be located several miles north of the current Palm Coast exit, will provide a safety valve for the heavily populated northern area of Palm Coast and will likley cut evacuation times by hours.  Further, this will provide a significant time savings for school buses as all of the schools are located west of I-95, but a good number of the children live in the Northeast quadrant of Palm Coast, causing 15-20 minutes of backtracking every trip.  Further, this road will significantly improve fire/police and rescue response times and will improve overall traffic congestion in Palm Coast.  This project is wholesale supported by all government entities in Flagler County.
