Project Description:
The coordination of homeless services delivery is largely done by local "homeless coalitions." as defined by State statute and may be locally appointed by the DCF districts. Funding to support the efforts of these coalitions (grant identification and coordination, coordination of social service delivery systems to better use resources, client outreach, provider education, strategic planning initiatives, public information and education, needs and gaps analysis, homeless census, ect.) has not kept abreast of the current needs of homeless persons and systems to address these needs. Total statewide funding to support the efforts of the state-designated homeless coalitions is approximately $180,000. Funds leveraged through local homeless coalitons exceeded $58.0 million last year.
