Project Description:

This project will provide assistance to community and faith-based organizations as they expand their role and effectiveness in helping under-served youth in distressed urban areas,by bridging the digital divide in the state.  The disparity in acess to rapidly changing and commercially significant technologies has a negative effect on the educational, workforce development and employment competitiveness of these needy youth and thereby impedes the economic development of the distressed communities where these youth reside.  Faith based institutions and community organizations are therefore the direct link to enable young people to frequent information technologies and thus, bridge the digital divide.

Measurable Outcome Anticipated:

The project will assist distressed urban communities in securing computers for acess and internet services by youth ages 5-18 years who reside in the communities served.   The project will succeed in assisting these distressed communities in bridging the digital divide--the gap between those who have acess to computers and internet technology and those who do not.
