Project Description:
A 12,000 GSF Pharmaceutical Research Center conducting research on Parkinson's Disease, Diabetes, HIV/Aids and Cardiovascular diseases; all of which have a disproportionate impact upon the citizens of Florida. The National Institute of Health (NIH) funded Florida A&M University with a challenge grant of $1.5 million to develop the research center. The initial award was made during the fiscal year of 1998. As of 9/30/2001 these dollars will revert back to the federal treasury if not matched.
Measurable Outcome Anticipated:
The Measurable Outcome that is Anticipated is the following: 1. Enhanced research regarding the four disease areas that impacts Florida citizens; 2. Increased training of research scientists; 3. Ability to attract additional Federal funds; 4. Moving the State of Florida to a higher level of research prominence nationwide.
