Project Description:
Child Protection Teams are funded and available statewide for abused children but there are no funded adult protection teams. This request is for 2 pilot programs-1 rural, 1 urban to be avilable to adult protective investigators for gathering case evidence and planning for the provision of protective services to elderly and disable adults who have been abused/neglected/exploited. Services include assistance with on-site identification of abuse,neglect,and exploitation, determination of the need for emergency services, death reviews, participation in training and educational programs and the evaluation of need for medical, psychological or psychiatric care. Multidisciplinary Adult Protection Teams will be established in concert with the University of Miami and Florida State University Medical Schools.
Measurable Outcome Anticipated:
Improved quality of adult protective investigations and care plans and protection of vulnerable adults from further harm.
